1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Russell Young, who runs Top Essay at www.topessay.io. "We" means Top Essay. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.
2. What Top Essay is
Top Essay organises college application writing: it lists the essay prompts of the schools you choose, gives you a place to write with word counts and autosave, and lets you share drafts with reviewers and counselors. Top Essay is not affiliated with any university, with the Common Application, or with UCAS. We check prompts against each school's official admissions pages and mark the ones still awaiting confirmation for the current cycle, but schools change prompts at any time, so always confirm in your application portal before submitting. Nothing on Top Essay guarantees or predicts an admissions decision.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use Top Essay only with the permission of a parent or guardian. Each account is for one person; do not share your sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your Google account or email account secure and for what happens under your Top Essay account. Counselors and reviewers use the access a student gives them only to help that student.
4. Your content
Everything you write on Top Essay is yours. So that the service can work, you give us permission to store it, back it up, display it to you, sync it between your devices, and show it to the counselors and reviewers you authorise. That is the only permission you give: we do not publish your essays, use them to train anything, share them with anyone you have not authorised, or sell them. You are responsible for what you write and share. Do not paste in someone else's work without their permission, and do not add other people's personal information beyond what the app asks for, such as a reviewer's name.
6. Fair use
Do not try to reach accounts or essays that are not yours, guess share codes, work around role or access limits, or probe the service for weaknesses without our written permission. Do not scrape or copy the site or its prompt database in bulk, overload the service, use it to send spam, or upload anything unlawful. Do not resell or rebrand the service.
7. Availability and changes
Top Essay is provided as it is and as available. It is free today. We may change, add or remove features at any time. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance, and you will always be able to get your own essays out.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Top Essay at any time and ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users at risk. When we do, we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
9. Responsibility and limits
We work to keep Top Essay available and its prompt data current, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every prompt is up to date. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for a missed deadline, a lost draft, an admissions decision, or any indirect loss arising from your use of the service. Keep your own copy of your essays. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law in your country gives you and that cannot be limited by agreement.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. If you have a problem, write to info@topessay.io first and we will try to sort it out. Anything that cannot be resolved that way is decided by the courts of Jakarta, Indonesia, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live.
11. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Top Essay after a change means you accept the new terms.
